Collings classification of learning projects.

Collings classification of learning projects.

Another developer of the project method, American professor Collings, offered the world's first classification of educational projects: Game projects - various games, folk dances, dramatic productions, etc. The purpose is to involve children in the use of also to develop group activities in obtaining quality essays. Excursion projects - expedient study of problems related to the surrounding nature and social life. Narrative projects, the purpose of which is to enjoy storytelling in a wide variety of forms - oral, written, vocal (song), musical (playing the piano).

Constructive projects are the creation of a concrete, useful product: making a rabbit trap, building a stage for the school theater, etc. The project method has attracted the attention of educators. Ideas of project-based learning emerged practically in parallel with the developments of American educators. A small group of educators was organized under the guidance of an educator who tried to actively use project methods in their teaching practices. Later, already, these ideas began to be quite widely implemented in school, but not well thought out and consistent, and the project method was condemned by ruling.

Since then there have been no more serious attempts to revive this method in school practice. At the same time it has been actively and very successfully developed in foreign schools. In the United States, Great Britain, Belgium, Israel, Finland, Germany, Italy, Brazil, the Netherlands, and many other countries Dewey's ideas of the humanistic approach to education and his project method have been widely spread. Everything I learn, I know what I need it for and where and how I can apply this knowledge - this is the main thesis of the modern understanding of the project method, which attracts many educational systems seeking to find a reasonable balance between academic knowledge and pragmatic skills.

The project method is based on the development of students' cognitive skills, their ability to independently construct their knowledge, their ability to navigate in the information space, and the development of critical thinking. The project method is always focused on independent activity of students - individual, paired, group, which students carry out within a certain period of time. This approach is organically combined with a group (cooperative learning) approach to learning. The project method always implies the solution of some problem, providing, on the one hand, the use of a variety of methods, teaching tools, and on the other hand - the integration of knowledge, skills from different areas of science, technology, and creative fields.
